Mitigation-Based Incentive Programs

There are multiple resources available to private landowners through mitigation-based incentive programs. These programs provide private landowners with economic incentives to maintain or restore lands for various conservation purposes. For example, the wetland mitigation banking program (FDEP and ACOE) allow private landowners to set market-based prices for off-setting wetland impacts from development activities. More recently, both the FWC and USFWS have adopted market-based approaches to encourage private landowners to restore and manage their properties towards sustaining wildlife species.

This page provides an overview of the opportunities available. These are a sample of programs and may require a third party conservation easement agreement for perpetual habitat management.
