Forested Wetlands

Forested wetlands include community types such as bay swamp, cypress swamp, mangrove swamp, shrub swamp, bottomland hardwood forest, and hardwood swamp-mixed wetlands. These are typically seasonally flooded communities, or in the case of Mangrove Swamps tidally flooded. These communities typically do not burn. The USFWS Multi-species recovery plan for South Florida includes characteristics and specific habitat management objectives for pond swamp, seepage swamp, flowing water swamps, and mangrove swamps.
